AWS Class E385‑16 electrodes are high‑alloy, fully austenitic stainless‑steel coated electrodes conforming to American Welding Society (AWS) specification A5.4. The deposited weld metal typically contains about 20–21% chromium, 24–26% nickel, 4.5–5.2% molybdenum, and 1.2–2.0% copper, with carbon kept very low (≤ 0.03%) to minimize carbide precipitation and ensure excellent corrosion resistance even in aggressive acidic or chloride environments.
Mechanical properties of the weld metal generally include tensile strength around 575–610 MPa, elongation of 30–35%, and sufficient ductility and toughness for demanding industrial service. The rutile (titania‑based) coating delivers stable arc characteristics, smooth bead appearance, minimal spatter, and easy slag removal, and the electrode performs well under both AC and DC(+) polarities.

These electrodes offer excellent corrosion resistance, particularly for welding high-strength stainless steel structures. They come in various sizes, including 3.2 mm (1/8 in) and 4.0 mm (5/32 in) diameters, providing strong welds with smooth, light coatings.
Featuring superior corrosion resistance, these electrodes are ideal for heavy-duty welding tasks. They are available in 3.2 mm (1/8 in) and 4.0 mm (5/32 in) diameters, designed for high-strength applications with thicker coatings for enhanced performance.
These electrodes are used in shielded arc welding processes for stainless steel, providing robust corrosion resistance. They are offered in sizes like 3.2 mm (1/8 in) and 4.0 mm (5/32 in) diameters, ensuring strong, reliable welds with excellent shielding properties.
We ensure full transparency of our AWS Class E385-16 Electrodes with high-quality assurance. All orders are accompanied by essential documents, including a commercial invoice, packing list, fumigation certificate, heat treatment chart, and a NABL-approved lab test report. We provide Material Test Certificates per EN 10204/3.1b, PMI Test Certificates, 100% radiography test reports, and Third-Party Inspection Certificates. Our comprehensive documentation is arranged to ensure maximum client satisfaction.
These electrodes are particularly suited for welding high‑alloy, corrosion‑resistant stainless steels such as grades comparable to 904L stainless steel (UNS N08904) and similar Cr‑Ni‑Mo‑Cu super‑austenitic stainless steels. They excel in fabrication of chemical‑industry equipment, acid‑handling vessels, piping systems, desalination plants, sea‑water exposed components, and any application requiring outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress‑corrosion in highly corrosive or acidic environments.
